A New York Jets player didn't hold back while talking about head coach Aaron Glenn.

The New York Jets not only went 3-14 last season in Year 1 of the Aaron Glenn era, but they also became the first team in NFL history not to record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points.

Many Jets fans wanted owner Woody Johnson to fire Glenn this offseason, but that didn't happen. In fact, Glenn will be calling defensive plays this season and new safety Dane Belton is looking forward to playing for Glenn.

“Coming into it, I knew what kind of coach he was. Very passionate, very gritty,” Belton told The Athletic. "Talking to guys that I knew who played under him as a coach and just understanding how he is and the things he expects, coming in, that’s only been magnified. That’s what I got from other players, and that’s what I’m seeing now. I love it. That’s the type of coach I want — someone who’s passionate about it. He’s in the defensive room, obviously, and personifying what he wants to see in this defense and how he wants to go about it.”

In Year 2 of the Glenn era, the Jets face the Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings. It will be interesting to see if New York wins more than three games.

In the 2026 draft, the Jets did rather well. They selected David Bailey, Kenyon Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, Darrell Jackson Jr., Cade Klubnik, Anez Cooper and VJ Payne.

Before the draft, the Jets acquired Geno Smith from the Raiders, Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins and T'Vondre Sweat from the Titans and signed Demario Davis and Tim Patrick in free agency.

New York opens the 2026 season against Tennessee. Only time will tell how Glenn does in Year 2.

“Listen, I just know this, I want to build this to where it’s sustainable, and where we will always put ourselves in a chance to win every year, and that takes time," Glenn said.
