The New York Giants have updated the playing status of Malik Nabers for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Ahead of the New York Giants matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football to open the NFL season, the team has provided an update on star wide receiver Malik Nabers' playing status.

Nabers has been trying to get back on the field since suffering a torn ACL and meniscus last season. The wideout has been making good progress during training camp and the preseason, but his status for Week 1 remains up in the air.

Now, New York has listed Nabers officially as questionable entering the game with Dallas.

The hope is that Nabers will be able to get on the field for New York in this game against Dallas. But it could be a good sign that he is listed as questionable, rather than the team simply ruling him out.

Nabers provided an update on himself earlier this week, giving more thought to potentially suiting up.

"I grinded my a** off, excuse my language, but you know, I grinded, prayed hard, putting consistent amount of work. I did everything that I can to be in this position right now and be able to make a decision to play or to not play because, at the end of the day, it's my career and it's my body, so if a pitch count is in the conversation, then I will lead that conversation; on that decision would be on me. At the end of the day, I can't put my career at risk. I gotta take that into accountability," Nabers said.

If the Giants are able to get Nabers into the lineup, it could provide the team with a massive boost in this game. Having a talent like Nabers on offense would allow quarterback Jaxson Dart to play more freely, even if the team were to ease him back into the game plan.

Everything has seemed to point toward Nabers trying to play, taking part in warm ups before the game. If his body feels well enough, Nabers will play.

But if not, the star wide receiver will wait another week for his highly-anticipated return. Nabers broke out as a rookie in 2024, catching 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns

The Giants have been patiently waiting for him to get back on the field, and all that time could be coming to an end this week. But for now, Nabers will continue to see where he is at, not rushing himself back just to play this week.
