New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has received yet another injury update.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart would likely miss the remainder of the season as a result of a knee injury that would require surgery.
Dart suffered the injury against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.
Well, on Wednesday afternoon, NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo all but confirmed it, stating that Dart is expected to undergo knee surgery that should lead to a follow recovery and that he will miss the remainder of the year.
The good news? This is not a torn ACL. Dart's ACL is reportedly intact, which is actually a pretty significant break for Dart and the Giants. Depending on the severity of what the injury actually is, of course.
We still don't know for sure exactly what the injury is. At first glance, most assumed it was a sprained MCL. Dart walked off the field under his own pair, was back on the field later in the game and had to be stopped from re-entering the contest.
That was why the initial expectation was that Dart would only miss a few games.
Obviously, the situation quickly took a left turn, and now, New York's playoff aspirations have nose dived as a result.
Dart was off to a tremendous start in 2026, too.
The former first-round pick went 23-for-29 with 230 yards and three touchdowns during the Giants' season-opening win over the Dallas Cowboys. He also added 54 rushing yards in the affair.
Last year, Dart made 12 starts, throwing for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 63.7 percent of his passes. Additionally, he rushed for 487 yards and nine scores on 5.7 yards per attempt.
The Ole Miss product missed a couple of games in 2025 due to a concussion, and he was also evaluated for head injuries five different times throughout the campaign.
For that reason, there was some concern regarding Dart's durability heading into his sophomore year, but John Harbaugh ensured that Dart did a better job of protecting himself in training camp. That was also evident in Week 1.
The injury Dart sustained versus the Rams was more of a freak accident, as a defender collided with Dart's left knee as the signal-caller was airborne. It's actually a good thing Dart's left leg wasn't planted at the time, or the injury likely would have been even worse.
Regardless, Dart is almost surely out for the season, and the Giants will have to find a way to navigate life without him.
