The New York Giants have received some great news before facing the New Orleans Saints.
The New York Giants have definitely been hit by the injury bug in the early stages of the 2026 NFL campaign, and things have gotten progressively worse.
Jaxson Dart is out for the season. So is Brian Burns. Andrew Thomas is playing through a groin injury, and both Jermaine Eluemunor and Abdul Carter are battling calf issues.
There appeared to be a chance that the Giants could be without at least two out of the three latter players against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday, but they actually received some fantastic news in that department Friday afternoon.
After all three of Thomas, Eluemunor and Carter were held out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday, they were back on the field Friday, and head coach John Harbaugh indicated that the each of them are on track to play this weekend.
This is obviously a major development for New York, which was in danger of starting Marcus Mbow and rookie J.C. Davis as its two tackles versus the Saints.
Plus, with Burns already out and Kayvon Thibodeaux struggling, the last thing the Giants needed was for Carter to be sidelined.
But it appears New York may have all three players in Week 6.
The Giants have gotten off to a 3-1-1 start this season, most recently tying with the Washington Commanders, 27-27, last week. New York rallied back from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit on the road, which was certainly impressive.
Currently, the Giants are one-and-a-half games in front of both the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, and given the state of the competition, New York actually has a chance of winning the division.
The Giants are surprisingly 1.5-point underdogs against the Saints — who are just 1-4 and have lost three straight games — at home this Sunday. They will then head on the road to battle Houston Texans — who are also 1-4 — the following week before the bye.
Following New York's off week, the Giants' schedule will become much more challenging, which is likely when we will see what this team is really made, especially without Dart and Burns.
Jameis Winston delivered a strong performance last Sunday, throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns. But whether or not the volatile veteran, who once through 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same season, can sustain it remains to be seen.
Hopefully, New York can keep it rolling versus New Orleans.
