Big Blue Nation is still buzzing over Dart’s first career NFL start, where he helped the G-Men come out with the first win of the season.
It was a dogfight between them and the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers, but ultimately the Giants pulled off the 21-18 victory, even after losing star receiver Malik Nabers for the season.
Dart was drafted 25th overall by the Giants this past April, but his draft stock was all over the place. Some mock drafts had him going in the second round, some had him in the late first.
However, Dart himself seemed to have been under the impression that he was going in the top-10.
Prior to their game against the New Orleans Saints, Dart was asked about the NFL Draft, and apparently, there were discussions about him landing in New Orleans.
"Yeah, I thought my visit with them went good, so you kind of have thoughts in your head in the draft of what options are really realistic, and I definitely felt like that was a place that could have panned out, but things didn't work out that way."
Ultimately, the Saints opted to select offensive tackle, Kelvin Banks Jr. out of Texas, who seems to be progressing nicely in the Big Easy.
New Orleans did eventually pick a quarterback, Tyler Shough, out of Louisville in the second round. But ultimately, Shough didn’t win the starting job out of camp, and lost it to Spencer Rattler.
So where would the Giants even be had the Saints actually drafted Dart? Surely, Russell Wilson would still be there, and he’d probably be starting even after the disaster class you may call Week 3.
Because in the end, Jameis Winston, despite winning over the fans every season, was not going to start. Perhaps New York would’ve opted for a player like Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders in the Draft. Maybe it would’ve gone for Shough.
In the end, it’s shoulda, coulda, woulda. Dart is entrenched in blue, and he’s immediately won over Big Blue Nation.
He may be at a current disadvantage with Nabers being out of commission for the rest of the season, and that allows Wan’Dale Robinson to assume the WR1 position.
Dart’s next test with the Giants is on the road at the Superdome, where the Saints have been brutal all season. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
