The veteran running back rejoins the active roster ahead of Week 7, pledging accountability for his actions while Green Bay’s offense seeks a much-needed spark on the ground.

Help is on the way for the Green Bay Packers.

Running back Josh Jacobs is set to return in Week 7 when the Packers travel to play the Detroit Lions. On Friday, the league took the running back off the commissioner exempt list. Jacobs will be eligible to return to practice next week.

Per an email sent to Roundtable, Jacobs' attorneys Clarence F. Duchac III, David Z. Chesnoff and Richard A. Schonfeld released a statement following news that the running back was taken off the commissioner exempt list.

In the statement, the attorneys claim Jacobs took responsibility for his actions and is ready to join his teammates on the Packers. They also suggest there are "ongoing legal matters."

"Josh has dedicated the last several months to bettering himself, and he accepts responsibility for his actions," the Statement reads. "He is excited to get back to work and on the field with his teammates.

"Josh is grateful for the support he is receiving from his teammates, coaches, the Packers organization, and the greatest fans in the world. Since there are ongoing legal matters, he will not have any further comment."

Jacobs will be a welcome addition for a 3-2 Packers team that needs a boost from the backfield. Green Bay is averaging just 3.1 yards per cary through the first five weeks.

Marshawn Lloyd is the leading rusher for Green Bay, recording 112 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries. Kaleb Johnson has the second-most rushing yards, with 106 yards on 27 carries. Lloyd's two rushing touchdowns are the only for the team this season.

It remains to be seen how much of an impact Jacobs will have the offense in Week 7. Certainly, the woes in the running game aren't exclusive to the running back position. Green Bay has not had great offensive line play in the early season.

Still, Jacobs will make the offense much more threatening.

The Packers will not have Jacobs back for their "Sunday Night Football" game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6. It will be yet another game Green Bay will be without Jacobs or Micah Parsons, two of their best players.

The Packers gained some momentum with a 31-7 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 5. They'll look to continue their winning ways against a Cowboys defense that has struggled this season. Dallas lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 5.

The Cowboys have issues in the secondary, but they allowed the Buccaneers to run for 241 yards and two touchdowns. The Packers could have better success in the run game against the Dallas defense.
