The Wisconsin native returns home to fortify a struggling Green Bay Packers offensive line.
The exact terms of the contract have yet to be revealed, but this is set to be one of the most expensive in-season signings in recent memory for the Green Bay Packers.
Obviously, if it means that Jacob Monk is no longer playing right guard, then it was absolutely worth it.
Monk has been horrendous up front for the Packers, and the last thing they can afford to have happen in the midst of a 1-2 season is to let Jordan Love get hurt.
Thankfully for Packers fans, ESPN's Adam Schefter officially confirmed that Kevin Zeitler, a day after coming in on a visit, has signed a one-year deal.
This is a huge step forward for an offensive line that has now made three new additions since being embarrassed on Thursday Night Football.
Love is still among the top five players in passing yards, so that shows just how good he's truly been even with all the problems up front. Now, he has another veteran to lean on, and it's a Wisconsin native whose homecoming has been a long time coming.
The former Badger joins the Packers
Zeitler is a Waukesha native who played college football at Wisconsin from 2008-11. He was named First-team All-Big Ten in his senior season, as well as being named a Consensus All-American.
The Cincinnati Bengals drafted him No. 27 overall, and he would spend his rookie contract there before heading to the New York Giants.
It was a bit of a bumpy road for Zeitler, as his play on the field was tremendous, no doubt, but the Packers are officially the seventh team he's played for since his rookie year in 2012.
Zeitler was a Pro Bowler with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, and he put together a really strong season in '25 with the Tennessee Titans for rookie quarterback Cam Ward.
Zeitler will report to practice immediately
According to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, Zeitler will officially be joining the team's other two signings, Laken Tomlinson and Mekhi Becton, on the practice field as of Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Just a few days away from a showdown against the 0-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it would be incredible to see all three of these men see the field, though only time will tell if that'll truly happen.
Zeitler is a true veteran, and he's played 14,407 offensive snaps in his career. Should Green Bay move him from the right guard position, they'd be playing with fire, as 99.97% of his snaps (14,403) have come at right guard.
In an ideal world, Zeitler plays RG while Becton holds things down as right tackle and Tomlinson assumes his duties at left guard.
