Packers Urged to Make Trade For Khalil Mack

The Packers may be looking to add at the trade deadline.

The Green Bay Packers are preparing for a big game against the New England Patriots this weekend, which will be the final contest before the NFL trade deadline.

Green Bay holds a record of 5-3 this year, with the team starting to play better after a slow start. But the Packers do sit in last place in the NFC North, and this team could use a slight boost the rest of the way.

As the Packers prepare for the upcoming trade deadline, there is a chance that the front office could look to add some pieces to the roster. Green Bay has its sights set on going after a Super Bowl title this year, so bringing in more talent could only help the cause.

NFL analyst Moe Moton of Bleacher Report predicted that the Packers would go after star pass rusher Khalil Mack of the Los Angeles Chargers. This would be a deal that could completely change up the NFL, putting the Packers at a different level of contention.

With the Chargers being 0-7 right now, the team could be looking to undergo a fire sale of sorts at the deadline this year. To this point, Los Angeles has held off making any moves like this, but Mack is older, and moving him could make sense.

So far this season, Mack has recorded 21 total tackles (five for loss), three sacks, and six quarterback hits. The Chargers as a whole have been a mess, but Mack has been a bright spot on the defensive side of the ball.

Adding a player of Mack's caliber could give the Packers even more to work with, especially with star pass rusher Micah Parsons coming back soon from injury. Mack could pair alongside Parsons, giving Green Bay one of the more lethal defensive duos in the entire league.

Since Mack is on the older side, he isn't the same level of player that he once was, but playing for a team like the Packers, he wouldn't have to take on a heavy burden. The veteran star could simply play his game, fitting into the schemes that Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon draws up.

Mack would get a chance to compete for a Super Bowl, while helping to bolster this Packers defensive unit for the remainder of the season.

Overall, this seems like it could be mutually beneficially for all sides, with the Packers getting a star pass rusher. Green Bay's front office may want to see what it could take to land Mack from the Chargers, boosting their chance to win.
