The Baltimore Ravens brought in veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks amid their mounting injuries.
The Baltimore Ravens have been hit hard in the wide receiver room, as both Zay Flowers and Ja'Kobi Lane will likely both be out for Week 2. Lane is definitely out due to undergoing wrist surgery, while Flowers is dealing with a nagging hamstring ailment.
With the injuries starting to mount, the Ravens are actively looking to improve the room and have already signed Gage Larvadain to the practice squad and moved veteran Chris Moore to the active roster. Additionally, the team has now brought in longtime veteran Brandin Cooks for a workout.
Adding more veteran talent makes a lot of sense, but Cooks has yet to be signed. He was brought in for a workout.
The Ravens do have a lot of options, which is why the team may have paused on signing Cooks.
With Lane out and Flowers missing the last two practices, the offense will now rely on Rashod Bateman, Moore, LaJohntay Wester, Devontez Walker, and Elijah Sarratt.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson recently expressed his confidence in the current room and also spoke about the chance that Bateman would get more opportunities with the injuries that have occurred.
Moore was the next most successful player in Week 1 after Flowers, as he caught a 53-yard bomb from Jackson. He also tacked on 121 receiving yards on four attempts.
Flowers was the lead receiver, as he set a career-high with 150 receiving yards. He suffered an aggravation to the hamstring injury that had been plaguing him earlier in the week.
That hamstring injury has now led to Flowers missing practice this week and will potentially knock him out for Week 2.
Regardless of the injuries, there are plenty of options for Jackson, as he has the listed names, along with tight ends Mark Andrews, Matt Hibner, and Josh Cuevas.
The Ravens will face the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, and they are looking to move to 2-0 on the season. Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle showed off his "explosive" offense, which featured some big-play capabilities.
Granted that included a lot of plays from Flowers and running back Derrick Henry, but that just proves the talent that Doyle and the offense can utilize with the injuries they are currently dealing with.
With many potential playmakers, Cooks may wait to be signed. However, more injuries will lead the Ravens to want to ensure they have everything they need to blow past the Saints.
