Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is not worried about multiple injuries to the wide receiver room.
The Baltimore Ravens were hit hard in the wide receiver room, as both Zay Flowers and Ja'Kobi Lane exited the Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts with injuries. Flowers suffered a hamstring aggravation, while Lane is reportedly dealing with a fractured wrist.
Lane has not yet been confirmed for surgery, but that appears to be the solution moving forward. That said, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is not worried about the injuries, pointing to them as an opportunity for the stacked roster.
Flowers remains "day-to-day," as head coach Jesse Minter put it. That could mean he will be ready to play in Week 2, though the team may want to take things easy with their top target. Prior to the injury, he set a career-high 150 receiving yards and one touchdown against the Colts.
Reports have indicated Lane will be out for a month due to needing to undergo surgery but that has not been confirmed.
With that said, Jackson pointed to the "next man up" mentality, and also pointed to his relationship with Rashod Bateman being strong.
"Zay was down during camp at some point. Guys stepped in and did what they were supposed to do. Coach always overemphasized that as well. You don't know what can happen with one of our guys, and someone might have to step up. Bate has already been out there. Tay, Tez, Chris Moore, those guys. Elijah ... X ... I have no doubt in my mind about our guys," Jackson said.
Jackson named practically every other receiver the team has, which include Bateman, Chris Moore, LaJohntay Wester, Elijah Sarratt, and Devontez Walker. Walker was dealing with a groin injury and missed Week 1, but he could be ready to play in Week 2.
Bateman is the clear leader among the group, despite not having any catches against the Colts. Jackson also pointed to the fact that he did have a catch, but it was called back due to a penalty.
The Ravens quarterback also stated that Bateman was showcasing his other skills, which is in pass and run blocking situations. Regardless, the pair's relationship is "great," according to Jackson.
"Great relationship, man. My guys is going to get a lot more targets, I believe, with guys going down,' Jackson said.
Despite the fact that losing Flowers and Lane will heavily impact the wide receiver room, this is arguably the most talented group that the Ravens have had and surrounded Jackson with.
Baltimore also made a move to bring wide receiver Gage Larvadian to the practice squad and subsequently release kicker Jake Moody to make room. Larvadain may not be a starter, but he is likely to take the spot of Moore, who is more than likely to be added to the active roster in the coming days.
Minter has yet to confirm if Flowers will be ready to play in Week 2, but the injury reports will start to offer more details on his hamstring ailment. If he is limited throughout the week, the chances of him playing in the coming game will be low.
