Baltimore Ravens starting center Jovaugh Gwyn may miss the rest of the 2026 season due to a broken leg.

Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter had stated that both centers Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic were looking at long-term injuries, after both had to be carted off the field during Sunday's victory in Brazil.

Now, one of their injuries has been reported. Gwyn reportedly suffered a fractured fibula, which will sideline him for two to three months, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

This all depends on how Gwyn recovers from surgery that he will undoubtedly have to have on the leg, which Fowler also indicated in his report. If all of this is accurate, it would mean the Ravens center would miss at least October and November.

If Gwyn needs more time to recover, he would then likely miss all of December as well. Regular season football wraps up in December, which leads to the start of the playoffs early on in January.

Assuming Gwyn would need more time to heal or more time to ramp back up to take the field, he could potentially miss the rest of the regular season.

The Ravens' center not only suffered a leg injury, but a broken leg at that. He also plays center, which is one of the most physical positions in all of football.

The center is the first contact on the offensive line and must utilize skill and strength to act as an anchor. Gwyn would need full function in his leg to even attempt that.

There is also the chance that Gwyn might attack his rehab and be back before the two- to three-month reported recovery stretch. Every NFL player is different, and they all respond to rehab and recovery differently as well.

With Gwyn and Pocic out, the Ravens are now turning to rookie guard Vega Ioane, who will be the team's starting center in Week 4 and possibly beyond that.

Multiple offensive linemen were in for a tryout on Tuesday, one of whom is longtime guard and center Graham Glasgow. If the Ravens sign one or two of these linemen, that may only be for depth purposes and not to take over for Ioane.

Minter heavily praised Ioane's ability to step in and take over at center in the emergency situation on Sunday when Gwyn and Pocic both went down. And Ioane will now get a chance to move into the center position moving  forward.

It is not an ideal situation for Baltimore, but they might also find a huge talent in Ioane at center, if he can utilize his phsicaility in the same manner that he did as the team's starting right guard.
