The Baltimore Ravens have released wide receiver Chris Moore.
The Baltimore Ravens pulled off some interesting roster moves on Tuesday, as veteran wide receiver Chris Moore was released.
Additionally, the team announced that Xavier Guillory was also released from the practice squad. While the release of Moore comes as a shock, the additional move may explain the plan.
Rookie wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane is expected to be activated from the IR list after undergoing a procedure on his wrist. With Lane's return imminent, Moore was likely released to make room for that roster spot.
Moore is likely to return to the practice squad, hence the release of Guillory.
This is the second time that Moore was released by the Ravens. The first came during the team's finalization of its 53-man roster.
Moore is a vested veteran and does not go through the normal waiver claim process, leaving him to sign with whatever team he chooses. The receiver could very well choose to sign with a new team, but the feeling is that he will return to Baltimore.
Moore has appeared in four games in 2026 and started two. In those games, he secured three receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown.
Moore is a veteran presence that the Ravens will likely want back in the locker room and on the practice squad.
Lane was expected to be a huge target for quarterback Lamar Jackson, as he showed flashes of brilliance during the preseason and the offseason program. The rookie receiver also caught a touchdown in Week 1, which was nullified by a penalty.
During that game, Lane exited after it was revealed that he had suffered a wrist injury. It was later revealed by Ravens head coach Jesse Minter that the rookie needed to undergo a procedure to fix his fractured wrist.
After spending the standard four games on IR, it appears that Lane will be back to practice very soon. Minter has not confirmed this fact yet, but the receiver is eligible to return this week.
Once the injury reports for Week 6 begin to show on Wednesday, Lane will presumably appear on the report. Whether or not he is ready to take the field against the Cleveland Browns remains to be seen, but he is eligible to return to practice this week.
The Ravens are also awaiting to see if Jackson will return to practice on Wednesday, as he has been out due to a sprained ankle that he suffered during Week 4. Tyler Huntley took over in Week 5 and led the team to an impressive overtime win.
