Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter stated the team is awaiting more information on the injuries to wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane and cornerback T.J. Tampa.
Despite the big win for the Baltimore Ravens, the team suffered some significant injuries. Two of those injuries were to wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane and cornerback T.J. Tampa.
During media availability, Minter spoke about both, but indicated the team is waiting on more information to determine the severity of both of their injuries.
Tampa left the game early on with what was described as a knee injury. Now, it appears that the injury could be a bit more significant than expected.
"We're still looking at it, but it could be more than a week. It could be more than that, but I'm not sure. We will get that figured out as we get the information," Minter said of Tampa's injury.
The wide receiver room was also hit, as both Zay Flowers and Lane were pulled from the game. The good news for Flowers is that his hamstring aggravation is not considered to be serious.
"For Zay it is more in the day to day range. Fell pretty good about that, and we will see how the week goes," Minter said.
Lane's case might be a bit more serious, as reports indicated that he fractured his wrist. However, Minter did not confirm that injury to the media.
"Ja'Kobi may be a little bit longer. We're getting some more things looked at right now and talking to different people," Minter said.
This is similar to when center Danny Pinter went down. Initially, it was believed that the offensive lineman suffered a season-ending tendon tear, but Minter did not confirm that. The Ravens' head coach waited for all of the information before revealing that it was season-ending.
Lane is likely going through testing right now, and the medical staff is likely deciding if surgery will be needed, or if he will simply need some time off, or to even wear a cast of some sort.
Minter also indicated that the team may explore getting a free agent wide receiver, but the injuries to Flowers and Lane will lead to Devontez Walker and Elijah Sarratt getting more opportunities.
Walker was not able to play in Week 1 after suffering a groin injury earlier in the week before the matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. He could heal in time to suit up for Week 2.
Sarratt was also made inactive for Week 1, likely due to the number of receivers already on the roster for the game. Now, he could get a big chance at playing in Week 2.
If Flowers cannot play due to his hamstring, it would be Rashod Bateman, Chris Moore, LaJohntay Wester, Walker, and Sarratt as the room for the New Orleans Saints showdown.
Baltimore has the right kind of depth to get by why players heal, but the loss of Flowers will impact the offense in a major way.
Flowers had a career day against the Colts, bringing in 150 yards and one touchdown. Minter did indicate that he could potentially be back out there for the second game, but it all depends on how this week transpires for him.
