Mike Macdonald 'Proud' Of 1 Seahawks Aspect In Stirring Chiefs Win

The Seahawks dominanted the Chiefs on both sides of the ball, and Macdonald was left proud over one aspect of his team.

The Seattle Seahawks bounced back with authority in their 20-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Lumen Field on Sunday night.

The Seahawks dominated on both sides of the ball in a way we hadn't seen this season.

The defense suffocated Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense, allowing just three points and no red-zone trips.

While the offense, which had all the pressure on it, was superb.

Sam Darnold was 20 of 28 for 257 yards, one touchdown, and an interception, while Emanuel Wilson rushed for 100 yards, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba posted 150 receiving yards and a touchdown; it was just an ideal performance.

Not to mention how nearly automatic Seattle was on third down (11/16), with most attempts on third-and-seven or more.

And for head coach Mike Macdonald, he was left proud by one aspect of the offense's play on Sunday night.

"I'm proud of our style of play," Macdonald said. "Watching us just play the game, felt like, looked like us, and there's some things operationally that we're still chasing that got us behind the sticks. Red zone, which that's going to be a point of emphasis. But I think where we focused our attention, that's what came to life.

"Operation, style of play, run game, third down. I don't know this, I'm not a big stats guy. I'm going off of what we saw on tape, and it felt like more our style of ball."

And if that is the Seahawks' style moving forward, the rest of the NFL is in for a tough time.

The defense has been superb all season, but against the Chiefs, it was easily their best performance of the season, and if they can do that to Mahomes and Andy Reid, then goodness me, what hope does the rest of the league have?

Offensively, that's where the questions still are, and yes, the performance against Kansas City was much needed. But it was one game.

Darnold's turnover problems are still there, making it eight in just six games, so that still has to be cleaned up.

But he was more decisive, spread the ball to his weapons, and, perhaps more importantly, Brian Fleury leaned on the run game, and the offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage.

So, there was a lot to like about Seattle's win, but the style of play by the offense takes the cake, at least for Macdonald.
