Kupp knows the move for Nelson was a great one, but in doing so, it did create a rather uncomfortable situation.
Many are excited that the Seattle Seahawks traded for six-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts.
Nelson will come in and immediately upgrade the offensive line, and the hope is that the offense will see a nice uptick in run game production as well.
But one of the downsides is that when a player like Nelson joins a team, that usually means someone loses their job.
And for Seattle, that has been Anthony Bradford, with Mike Macdonald stating Nelson will be a left guard, with Grey Zabel shifting to right guard, which was Bradford's spot.
So, Bradford has been demoted from starter to backup, and that can be a tough pill to swallow.
But for receiver Cooper Kupp, he revealed how Macdonald approached what was no doubt a tough conversation with a staple of the offensive line.
"By going through and not around him, just being direct, being honest, and the fact of the matter is, however it ends up shaking out for Monday, we're going to have the best sixth man coming off the bench," Kupp said. "It is a champagne problem. It's a great problem to have, and it's tough, everyone wants to be out there on the field and playing. You got guys that stepped in last week and did an unbelievable job.
"What you're looking for is honesty, anyone just wants to be told the truth, and you can handle what the truth is. It's harder to handle someone that's skirting around it."
Of course, it isn't like Bradford won't be playing at all, there will still be snaps for him, just not as many as before.
Still, it is a part of football, and some might say a harsh one, but everyone is working towards the same goal, and that's to win a Super Bowl.
If Nelson coming in and Bradford going out gives Seattle the best chance, then so be it.
It is never easy to lose your job midseason, especially when you are a starter, but Bradford will take it on the chin and be the best teammate he can be.
As Kupp said, it is a champagne problem, however it's still not an ideal situation, but that's football.
