There are rumors floating around that Seattle might entertain the idea of adding a running back before the trade deadline, but should it?
The Seattle Seahawks have already swung a trade for six-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, but fans think another move could be on the horizon.
And in the form of a running back.
There are rumors that the Seahawks could look to go back to the Indianapolis Colts well and look to add running back Jonathan Taylor.
Other names such as Tony Pollard from the Tennessee Titans and James Conner from the Arizona Cardinals have also been floated about as candidates on social media.
But the big question is: do the Seahawks need to make a move at running back?
The Taylor rumors are fun, but in truth, the draft capital needed to move him would be a lot, plus his contract ($22 million APY). After all, Seattle allowed Kenneth Walker to walk out the door, so it wouldn't make sense, after a couple of months, for the franchise to then go and get a star back.
But again, do the Seahawks need to add?
I don't think so and let me tell you why.
There are a few reasons, and the first is that the Seahawks have reinforcements coming in the form of first-round pick Jadarian Price and red zone weapon Zach Charbonnet.
The Seahawks drafted Price to be one of the main weapons out of the backfield, but injury has stalled his promising start.
Then there is Charbonnet.
Seattle's red zone weapon in 2025, who rushed for 12 TDs, is slowly edging closer to a return, so the Seahawks' run game could be completely revamped.
Price and Charbonnet are a much better duo than Emanuel Wilson and George Holani. No disrespect to the latter.
Secondly, another wrinkle to add here is: if the Seahawks, for argument's sake, get Taylor, what then happens to either Charbonnet or Price? You can't play them both. Taylor would be your starter, and who would back him up?
Would Seattle move on from Zach? I hardly think so. And definitely not a first-round pick in Price.
So, the calls for the Seahawks to add a stud like Taylor is a fun idea, but it doesn't make sense, at least to me, because of the backs already on the roster.
Then others like Pollard and Conner- are they better than what Charbonnet and Price could be? That's a tough question to ask.
For now, I think it's as you were for the Seattle run game, because you have two key players on the brink of returning.
