The defending champions could ignite the trade deadline by pairing a prolific rushing veteran with their high-powered offense, potentially finalizing a massive roster overhaul in Indianapolis.
The Seattle Seahawks see themselves as championship contenders and therefore, as the NFL trade deadline of Nov. 10 approaches, the defending Super Bowl titlists are "buyers.''
The Indianapolis Colts see themselves as dead in the water and therefore are "sellers.''
Could this be a match in headline-making heaven?
The two teams already created one blockbuster NFL trade with star guard Quenton Nelson being moved to Seattle. ... and the rumors are now swirling that another deal might be on tap ...
Involving an even bigger star.
Could the Seahawks be aggressive again and acquire veteran running back standout Jonathan Taylor?
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay is making this up on his own; it's not sourced material ... but it is interesting nonetheless.
B/R's collection of "shocking'' trades includes a prediction that the Seahawks will once again call the Colts and will swap running back Emanuel Wilson and 2027 second- and fourth-round picks to the Colts in exchange for Taylor.
Again, this is completely the idea of a writer with no particular connection to either team.
But ...
Indianapolis is cleaning house after firing general manager Chris Ballard. The Colts dealt Nelson and DeForest Buckner (to the Niners). Receiver Josh Downs has requested a trade.
And ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler projects Indianapolis’ chances of trading Taylor to be about 30 percent.
That percentage thing seems rather arbitrary to us, but the point is the same.
The Seahawks ground attack is averaging a decent 113.7 yards per game; Taylor would likely fix that.
But acquiring Taylor would be an expensive move, as he's due $44 million on a deal set to run through the 2028 season.
If the Seahawks wanted to pay top dollar for a back, why not just keep Kenneth Walker from bolting for the Chiefs?
There are more obvious options. Rookie Jadarian Price was drafted in Round 1 to be the answer here. He and Zach Charbonnet both appear to be nearing a return to the field after being sidelined with injuries.
But those ideas aren't as sexy as triggering a rumor that connects the TD machine Taylor with the defending champs.
So that Rumor Mill cranks away.
