The Seahawks traded for the six-time All-Pro guard, who will now swap Indianapolis for Seattle in a move he's still adjusting to.
The Seattle Seahawks announced their intentions this season after agreeing to a trade for six-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, sending him from the Indianapolis Colts to Seattle.
It is a move that has garnered positivity for the Seahawks, given what Nelson can bring to an offensive line that is coming off its best performance of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs.
With head coach Mike Macdonald stating that Nelson will slot in at right guard with Grey Zabel moving to right guard, it means Anthony Bradford is now the odd man out.
But that is football.
Moves like this happen and it often means that other players lose their starting roles.
But we hadn't heard from Nelson after what had been a whirlwind 48 hours.
Now we have, and he revealed his emotions after saying goodbye to the Colts and hello to Seattle.
"The reaction, I got to admit, was like a little bittersweet," Nelson said. "Formed a lot of great relationships in Indie, great community there, but definitely excited for this next chapter being here in Seattle. Just driving in, and then the couple times I've played here, it's a beautiful state, a really cool city, all the nature here is sick, and then getting to meet some of the guys.
"Everyone's been super welcoming already, and the coaches as well. It's a family here. The equipment, the trainers, it's been a great day and a half so far."
The move for Nelson is one that immediately solidifies Seattle's interior, and given how well the line performed last week against Kansas City, now you add in a six-time All-Pro, that should see a big uptick in production.
Of course, it will take time for Nelson to get settled, learning a new offense, new verbiage, and of course, getting to know his teammates, but he is a trusted veteran, and we imagine he will slot in seamlessly for the Seahawks this week.
Some thought Seattle's big move could be for a running back like Jonathan Taylor, but Nelson coming to the Seahawks is a move that we might look back on in a few months' time and say that was the move that kickstarted the title defense.
Yeah, Nelson says it's bittersweet, but he's gone from a struggling Colts team to a Seattle team pushing to win the Super Bowl.
