Sam Darnold Offers Reason For Seahawks Optimism Ahead Of Chiefs Showdown
Oct 24, 2026 10:14 PM

The Seahawks offense has stuttered and spluttered in the past two weeks, but Darnold remains confident the unit can turn it around against Kansas City.

There's no sugarcoating it: the Seattle Seahawks' offense has to flick a switch, change gears, do something to get themselves rolling again.

With Sam Darnold's turnover issues now becoming a serious problem, as well as the inconsistency in the run game, the Seahawks will face the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs at Lumen Field on Sunday night, hoping to change their fortunes.

With a mini-bye after the overtime loss to the Denver Broncos, the entire locker room and coaching staff have had plenty of time to dive into what has gone right and wrong over the first six weeks.

Granted, defensively, the Seahawks aren't doing much wrong at all; it is mostly the offense that needs to sort itself out.

And for Darnold, one thing he detailed that the offense has to find is something that every other offense craves.

"Yeah, just consistency," Darnold said. "Understanding what our strengths are, what our weaknesses are, and, obviously, not going to share too much, but just being able to find a little more consistency."

Darnold also spoke about how he is "really happy where we're at" in terms of the offense, which you can argue is a little odd given the inconsistent nature of their play over the past two weeks.

But prior to last week, when they scored just 14 points, in the four games prior, they scored at least 29 points.

So, it isn't like the offense is broken, and Sam seems to agree after going over the film.

But what makes Darnold "happy" with the offense despite its struggles?

“Yeah, I think there's a lot of good things that we're doing on tape,” Darnold said. “Obviously, sometimes it doesn't show it in the scoreboard or sometimes how it feels on the field, but we're doing a lot of good things, we just need to create a little more consistency in how we're doing it.

“That's just sustaining drives, having six or seven, eight plays that we're stringing together and then not being able to really convert a third down on that eighth play. So, just sustaining drives and just continuing to play one play after the other.”

So Darnold seems content with how things are rolling, but we know that there are a lot of things to tighten up, and the Chiefs will see any weakness and exploit it.

Sitting at 3-3, the Seahawks need to start stringing some wins together as the San Francisco 49ers are running away with the division already.

We know what this offense is capable of, but will we see it against the undefeated Chiefs?

Seahawks fans sure hope so.
