The Seahawks climbed the NFL mountain in 2025, but is the hunger there to do it again?

There is always a big narrative that surrounds the Super Bowl champions, and it is one that the Seattle Seahawks have to deal with in 2026, and that is the hunger and desire the team has to go around again.

Often, we see that when a team has reached the top of the NFL mountain, as Seattle did last season, the desire to go that extra yard in practice, or lift that weight a couple of extra times, or do the extra film study, isn't there.

The Super Bowl hangover, as it is commonly called, has caught up with many teams over the years. Whether that actually has anything to do with it is unknown, but there is a reason why it is hard to repeat as champs.

Still, there are those who think that when players have a full belly of accolades, like a Super Bowl win, their hunger and desire for the following season isn't there.

So, is there any truth to that for the Seahawks? Receiver Shahid Shaheed, who was a guest on Seattle Sports' Wyman and Bob, completely disagrees.

"That is completely false," Shaheed said. "I feel like this team is more determined now that we know what it takes to get there. Our coaches do a great job of not letting us get comfortable, it's a new year, new opportunities. Last year, it's in the past, and we just want to make our mark this year, and we know we have a target on our back, and that's what we want. That's what we've earned.

"There's opportunities to go out and play for ourselves, our coaches, and we're just excited for every opportunity we get to go out and compete, and we're all looking forward to this year."

Ready to move forward into 2026, head coach Mike Macdonald has made it clear his team isn't defending the Super Bowl title, instead running it forward.

With the NFC West a brutal gauntlet this upcoming season with the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks' task of just making it back to the playoffs is going to be tough.

But there is more than enough talent on this roster to win double-digit games and then have a good crack at a Super Bowl.

And Shaheed wants it known that the Seahawks' hunger and desire to win it all again burns as bright as ever.
