The Seahawks are aiming to hand the 49ers their first loss of the season.
The Seattle Seahawks take on the undefeated San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field in a game that could have big NFC West implications.
With Mike Macdonald's Seahawks being a little inconsistent through the first four games, they still sit at 3-1, but you can argue they haven't hit their stride yet.
As for the 49ers, they hit their stride as soon as they stepped off the plane in Australia and haven't looked back.
Kyle Shanahan has Brock Purdy and the offense rolling, while Raheem Morris has the defense looking stout once again, so the Seahawks are in for a serious battle here... just like most NFC West matchups.
But to get a better idea of the Seahawks' chances in this contest, we have to know who is playing and who isn't.
And Seattle just dropped its inactives list.
QB Jalen Milroe (emergency third QB)
RB Robert Henry Jr.
LB Chazz Surratt (calf)
WR Montorie Foster Jr.
TE Nick Kallerup
Oh, and the Niners' inactives are ...
- QB Kurtis Rourke (QB3)
- FB Kyle Juszczyk (knee)
- DE Nick Bosa (knee, calf)
- DT James Thompson (ankle)
- S Marques Sigle (ankle)
- OT Enrique Cruz
- LB Tatum Bethune
So it is a healthy Seahawks team that will take the field against the 49ers, and it also means that running back George Holani, who was questionable this week, is full-go.
He joins Emanuel Wilson and Velus Jones Jr. as the running backs behind Sam Darnold.
But we wonder how much burn Holani will get with his rib and knee injuries, so he might be on a limited snap count.
Other than that, the Seahawks are about as healthy as they could hope to be as they face the 49ers juggernaut at Lumen Field.
And if the Seahawks can manage to take care of business, there is a good chance that they will also overtake the 49ers for the division lead as well. So there is plenty on the line for Seattle today.
Because if they lose, they will go two games behind the 49ers, plus San Francisco will own the tie-breaker over them as well. So it could be a brutal day for the Seahawks as they try to become back-to-back division champs.
But we know they aren't thinking about that. They're focused on winning, and with a healthy roster, Seattle will fancy its chances at home, backed by a raucous crowd, against the undefeated 49ers.
