The free agency period for the Seattle Seahawks went about as well as the franchise could have hoped for.
Yes, they lost some key pieces, which was expected, but they also retained some as well, with Mike Macdonald now looking ahead to the draft, barring any other last-minute moves.
As defending Super Bowl champions, we often see a raid of sorts, and to an extent, that is what happened to Seattle, but the franchise managed to counteract them with some good re-signings as well.
So, after a handful of days into free agency, let's take a look at who stayed and who didn't.
Note: these are as of the time of writing.
The players who received extensions or were re-signed are Rashid Shaheed, Josh Jobe, Drake Thomas, Josh Jones, Chris Stoll, and A.J. Finley.
That is a decent group as the Seahawks keep a handful of players who played their role in the Super Bowl win.
The Seahawks also placed a restricted tender of receiver Jake Bobo, worth $3.5 million per Field Yates, and they also retained the exclusive rights to both pending free agents George Holani and Ty Okada.
So those are the handful of players that the Seahawks will welcome back in 2026, and in truth, none are really a surprise.
Now onto those who left for greener pastures.
Running back Kenneth Walker was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs, in a move most saw coming. Linebacker Boye Mafe moved to the AFC with the Cincinnati Bengals, Coby Bryant is now a Chicago Bear and corner Riq Woolen has swapped one NFC team for another, landing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Seahawks also have a decision to make on a handful of other players who are still unrestricted free agents: Brady Russell, Darake Young, Cody White, and Brandon Pili.
So there is still a bit to play out for general manager John Schneider as he and the front office look to go again in 2026 and claim back-to-back Super Bowls.
Without Walker, Mafe, Woolen and Bryant, it might be a tall order, but the Seahawks have done a good job of signing their own.
Now, the fan base hopes that Schneider might look outside of his own team for the next signing, as free agency has seen a host of key starters be wiped off the board.
But the Seahawks can still find plenty of value as they look to balance the free agency scorecard in the coming days.
