Price is finally starting to get a grip on what Brian Fleury's system is asking him to do, and that has him excited.
The life of a rookie in the NFL can be a whirlwind, and for Seattle Seahawks running back Jadarian Price, he's finally starting to get his feet underneath him in training camp.
After a long offseason that has seen Price learn a new system, teammates, and everything in between, it can be a little daunting given the amount of information thrown at young players.
But he's put his head down and worked hard to get to the point now where he is beginning to understand what new coordinator Brian Fleury is trying to do on offense.
Of course, we are only in the early stages of camp, and there is a long way to go, but Price is making good strides as he tries to establish himself as a Seahawk.
And after a little over a week in camp, Price is loving the fact he is levelling up his game.
"I'm really starting to finally understand the offense," Price said. "The things that we do, I didn't do too much in college. So now that I'm opening my game up a little bit, I'm really excited for the season."
Put of opening up his game is becoming more of an option in the passing game.
We know that Price did it in college, but not too often. One thing we know about Fleury, who came over from the San Francisco 49ers, is that he wants his running backs to be passing options out of the backfield.
And for Price, that is something he's continuously worked on his whole career.
"That's one thing I've worked on since high school," Price said. "I've continuously gotten better at it throughout college, and then that's one thing that people question going into the pros. So, I worked on it and just continue to work on it, understanding space and catching ability."
So, Price is beginning to find his feet as a pro, but that hasn't come by his own doing; he's had help.
With the Seahawks' offense having a lot of veterans who could take Price under their wing, the running back room does have a youthful look to it, and Jadarian revealed one player who has been a big help in his transition into the pros.
"George Holani has been a huge help ever since I came into the room," Price added. "Since day one, OTAs, and now being able to watch him and learn how he holds the standard for the running back room, that's really inspiring."
So it has been a big offseason of teaching for Price, and he is taking it one day at a time, as he looks to become a viable member of Fleury's offense.
And yes, it is only early in camp, but Price is already staking his claim to be a key cog in the Seattle machine.
