The Seattle Seahawks are ready to play in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots today, and they could be forgiven for just wanting the game to start already.
The build-up to the NFL's penultimate game is a lot different from a regular-season or even playoff game.
There is a two-week break where the sole focus is on the Super Bowl.
Plus all of the media commitments, the NFL Honors, and everything in between, and that is before the game is even played.
So it is a lot for players to take in, especially those experiencing it for the first time, like many Seattle players are.
One is All-Pro receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and he's detailed how he's approached what has been a rather intense two weeks.
"Yeah, just really staying focused and locked in and just making sure you're ready,” Smith-Njigba said. “Super Bowl week could be a lot, it could drain you a little bit, so just be prepared for it, and you just got to be locked in really.”
Smith-Njigba is one of the key players to watch in the Super Bowl, after his dazzling displays in the regular season and his 153-yard game in the NFC Championship game.
But a big part of Jaxon's success has been Sam Darnold, a player who despite his outstanding season, is still fighting off the critics.
Why? We aren't sure, as Darnold has answered every question aimed at him in 2025, and now he's close to completing his redemption story.
"Sam's going to do what he do and he doesn't really change or maneuver from what got him here," Smith-Njigba added. "We all see that and feel that, and that's a big motivation to this team and how we carry ourselves. I think just staying level-headed and even keel is something that can benefit you."
So Darnold's approach might be rubbing off on some of the Seahawks players as they prepare for the biggest game of their lives.
They could be forgiven for being a little emotionally drained as the game gets closer, but that is all part of the spectacle that is the Super Bowl.
And if the Seahawks do emerge victorious, it will all be worth it.
