The offense hasn't been good the past two weeks, and now, coming up against the 5-0 Chiefs, Brian Fleury's unit has to find form, and fast.
The Seattle Seahawks' offense has been a big storyline over the past two weeks, with Brian Fleury's unit struggling to find any consistency outside of Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Sam Darnold has perhaps been the biggest concern, as his seven interceptions in five games have helped doom the Seahawks, but his offensive line also hasn't helped him.
Sacked 14 times in five games, Darnold is also under pressure, and when a quarterback doesn't trust his protection, bad things happen.
In the aftermath of the loss to the Denver Broncos, head coach Mike Macdonald and Darnold have talked about being more decisive with the football and getting the offense moving faster.
With the Kansas City Chiefs and Steve Spagnuolo's defense coming to Lumen Field, that looks like a tall order. They have given up more than 10 points just twice, so the Seahawks' offense is going to have a tough time if they can't settle down and move the chains.
For Macdonald, saying you want to start fast is one thing, but doing it is another thing entirely.
“You say you want to start fast, that's a product of being decisive,” Macdonald said. “You can control starting fast, you can control your mentality, how well you're on your assignments, how well we're aligned, what we're going to call, and when. Those are the things that we can take a step in.”
So the Seahawks will, in a sense, take the bull by the horns. That's how they will get out of this offensive funk.
Granted, Darnold, after having another game with multiple interceptions, might find being decisive a little hard to come by, but he's simply got to cut down these pesky turnovers.
Given how he has played in the last two weeks, some fans even called for him to be benched for Drew Lock, because with Lock starting against the New England Patriots and the Arizona Cardinals, the offense looked far smoother.
Oh, and Lock wasn't turning the ball over either.
So, at 3-3, the season isn't done, but Darnold and the offense have to get something going against the Chiefs.
Because the aftermath of the Denver loss was one thing, but produce that again, with the turnovers from the quarterback, and this thing could get a little messy.
