Wilson was the bell cow against the Cardinals, and the running back is proving his worth to Fleury's offense.
The Seattle Seahawks' run game heading into the new season was going to be a fascinating watch without Kenneth Walker, now a Kansas City Chief, and with Zach Charbonnet injured.
First-round pick Jadarian Price loomed as the ideal replacement, and the Seahawks also signed Emanuel Wilson as a free agent.
Not thought to be a player who was going to get a lot of burn, especially with Price and George Holani reportedly both having good offseasons, but as we know, the script for an NFL season is rarely one without incident.
And in the 31-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals, the Seahawks lost Price to a chest/shoulder injury, and that forced Wilson into the starting role.
Which he handled superbly well.
He rushed for 92 yards on 21 carries (4.4 yards per carry), showcasing his trademark hard-running style.
And for Mike Macdonald, he has nothing but praise for what he saw from Wilson.
"With Emanuel, it's the things that we saw him do throughout training camp before he had that minor setback," Macdonald said. "So really glad to see him kind of do his thing, but a decisive runner, gets downhill, not just on the inside run game, it's on the perimeter game as well.
"Had a great run there on the third down where kept the drive going on the last drive, which is awesome. So, a lot of great stuff, we're happy to have him."
With Price's status for Sunday not known yet, it could very well be the Wilson show for Brian Fleury.
He proved against Arizona that he can handle 15+ carries, and his production didn't drop as the game went on. So, could we expect something similar against Washington? Maybe.
The Dallas Cowboys struggled to get their run game going against Washington, so the Seahawks might have similar issues as well, but there is no denying that at least right now, the signing of Wilson looks to be a shrewd one by the Seahawks.
With Price in doubt, and no Charbonnet, it could be Wilson who gets a lot of burn against the Commanders, and if he does, I wouldn't mind betting he'll be very productive.
