When the Seattle Seahawks lost starting running back Zach Charbonnet to an ACL injury in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs, there was certainly a question of whether Kenneth Walker could step up in his absence and handle his workload. Did he ever. Walker became the first running back in 28 years to win Super Bowl LX MVP honors in their 29-13 win over the New England Patriots. Certainly, the defense played a major role in the victory, holding New England to 13 points. But while most of Seattle’s points were scored via field goals, Walker is the one who positioned them to score.
He had 27 carries for 135 yards and set up the critical field position to go up 12-0 in a defensive slugfest. Now, the question is what the Seahawks will do next, as Walker is set to become an impending free agent. There’s a natural fit for Walker to return to Seattle, especially with Charbonnet coming off a major injury. He started all 17 games for the Seahawks for the first time in his career, and his production gave him a major payday raise heading into his first free agency.
Here is the full story from Seahawks Roundtable writer Adam Schultz on the major decision for Seattle.
If Seattle isn’t willing to pay the price tag, some running back-needy team likely will, and his MVP award in Super Bowl LX may lead him to garner a payday that the Seahawks aren’t willing to match. However, both sides will hope to run it back together.
