The Houston Texans have elevated multiple players ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Houston Texans enter Week 2 with an opportunity to bounce back from a tough 36-31 loss against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.
With that said, the Texans must improve on both sides of the ball as they now host the Cincinnati Bengals who are also a solid team and if Houston is not ready to play they could very well drop to 0-2.
While the focus will be on the stars in this game, one of the more overlooked elements in this game might be the role players who play special teams as well as filling key roles on both offense and defense.
On that note, the Texans have made multiple roster moves as they have elevated safety George Odum and wide receiver Lewis Bond to the active roster for Week 2 via standard practice squad elevation.
For Odum, this now becomes the second straight week that he has been elevated to the active roster, and he made sure to take advantage of the opportunity in Week 1 as he tallied two total tackles, with one of those tackles being a solo tackle.
On the other hand, this is the first opportunity for Bond to showcase what he can do. With this chance, Bond has the ability to impress on special teams and potentially on offense, depending on what the Texans choose to do at the wide receiver position this week, with wide receiver Nico Collins out of the lineup.
During the preseason, Bond did get some action as he played in every game, but after being elevated to the active roster for this game against the Bengals, Bond now has the opportunity to make a statement if he can make a few splash plays.
For both Odum and Bond, it is very likely that they will be used on special teams to help the Texans get solid field position, block kicks, or pin the Bengals deep and allow the dominant Houston defense to get after quarterback Joe Burrow.
Regardless of how the Texans use Odum and Bond, both players will be locked in and ready to go to ensure they can take advantage of this opportunity and prove that they can be a valuable player for Houston or potentially another team, as each of them could get claimed off waivers from the practice squad.
So, heading into this game, it will be interesting to watch how Odum and Bond can perform in their respective roles as well as how the Texans can respond and if Houston can knot their record at 1-1 with a victory over the Bengals.
