Jeremiyah Love aims to uphold the Titans' storied running back tradition, but a potential Cardinals pick could shift Tennessee's draft focus dramatically.
Out of the great players that have come through this franchise's doors, the one position that stands out among the rest is running back.
Going back to the days of the Houston Oilers, the franchise had the legendary Earl Campbell at running back. Then, when the franchise moved to Tennessee in 1997, there was Eddie George.
George was here at the beginning of the rebrand when the team changed its name from the Tennessee Oilers to the Tennessee Titans in 1999. He finished as the Titans' all-time leading rusher with 10,009 rushing yards.
Even in the 2010s, there was excellent running back play, with Chris Johnson (2008-2013) and Derrick Henry (2016-2023) leading the charge. Johnson and Henry both joined the 2,000-yard club during their time in the Music City.
Each one of those players left their mark on the franchise, and the Titans have a chance to select a running back prospect with a lot of upside in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The talk around Jeremiyah Love has been getting louder after General Manager Mike Borgonzi said at the NFL Owners Meetings that the Titans are taking the best player available.
Love is one of the best offensive prospects in the draft. He showcased the ability to break off huge runs in college at Notre Dame, and he can also line up at receiver if needed.
Love spoke with Titans insider Jim Wyatt ahead of the draft, and it's safe to say the running back knows the franchise's legacy at the position. He's committed to keeping that going if the Titans decide to take him at No. 4.
"The running back position? I know Derrick Henry was there; he did some great things. I've always known the Titans to have good running backs, so if I am to get drafted there, I would continue that legacy."
This should get Titans fans everywhere fired up. However, there's been a recent development that may discourage some.
The Arizona Cardinals are picking above the Titans and could use help in their running back room. ESPN's Adam Schefter proposed a scenario in which the Cardinals take Love, leaving the Titans to go with linebacker Sonny Styles.
Fans seem torn over whether they'd prefer Love or Styles. Both would be beneficial to the franchise.
Love could elevate the offense to another level and give Cam Ward a player who could take the pressure off him.
With Styles, he would fit the fast and physical middle linebacker that a lot of Saleh's past defenses have featured. Saleh has been fortunate to work with Fred Warner, Bobby Wagner, and C.J. Mosley.
Styles could be the next athletic linebacker he could work with if he pans out.
The No. 4 pick is a crossroads for the Titans. Do you go with an outstanding offensive player like Love, or give Saleh another tool for his defense?
