Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Myles Price has been named NFC special teams player of the month for the month of September.
The Minnesota Vikings now sit at 3-0 atop the NFC North heading into Week 4, and that is partly due to the incredible performance of wide receiver Myles Price on special teams.
On that note, Price was actually named the NFC special teams player of the month following his solid and consistent performance throughout September.
Without question, Price's 86-yard punt return touchdown in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers helped his case, but more than that, it was his consistent performance in the first month of the 2026 season.
For the month of September Price was the Vikings only returner when it came to punts and kickoffs and he was very impressive in both categories.
Starting with kickoffs, Price has totaled 12 returns for 353 yards, which led to an average of 29.4 yards per return, in addition to his longest return being for 68 yards.
To put that in perspective, Price's 353 kick return yards rank him No. 1 in the NFL among all kick returners, which is incredible and shows that Price consistently does a great job of putting the Minnesota offense in good field position to start drives.
Now looking at the punt return side, Price has six returns for 130 yards and a touchdown, which has resulted in him averaging 21.7 yards per return, with that 86-yard punt return touchdown being his longest return of the year thus far.
Just like kick returns, Price ranks No. 1 in the NFL when it comes to yardage with his 130 punt return yards which is very impressive and proves that he can return the ball very effectively whether it is on a kick return or an a punt return.
For Price to have this kind of a start in the return game so far this season is huge for Minnesota because it gives this team a lot of confidence that when they need a play on special teams to set the offense up with good field position or simply just to create an explosive play, they know they can lean on Price to make it happen.
Thus far on the offensive side, Price has been utilized, but with the explosive plays he has been able to generate in the return game, it is very possible that head coach Kevin O'Connell may decide to use Price in certain situations to add another element to this offense for quarterback Kyler Murray.
So, as the Vikings head into Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins, it will be interesting to see if Price can continue his strong start to the return game and possibly find a role in this offense to generate explosive plays, because if he can, he may become one of the more explosive players in the entire league, whether it is special teams or offense.
