Many contestants shook up the world standings race following the 2026 Dodge City Roundup.
If you’ve been following along as we’ve covered the summer rodeo run, then you’ve gotten a feel for just how important each run and ride are this time of year. The 2026 Dodge City Roundup presented yet another opportunity for contestants to solidify their place in the Top 15, or take one step closer to realizing their NFR aspirations.
Jess Pope is no stranger to performing under pressure. The 2022 World Champion, and current No. 3-ranked cowboy, topped the bareback riding average by a single point after turning in a 176-point aggregate to collect $8,550 for the weekend. Finishing just behind in second were Tim O’Connell and Cole Reiner, who each recorded 175 points.
J.D. Struxness took the aggregate win by almost a whole second, laying down 12.6 seconds on three head. Struxness currently sits 10th in the world standings, and his $9,110 payday in Dodge City will help solidify his Top 15 status as we head into August. Rowdy Parrott finished second in the aggregate with 13.4 seconds on three head. While he’s just outside the Top 15, he collected nearly $10,000 over the weekend.
No. 3-ranked Tyler Tryan and Nicky Northcott finished atop the field in team roping with a three-head aggregate of 16.7 seconds to collect $5,905 apiece. Clay Smith and Coleby Payne finished second with a 17.0-second aggregate, while Clay Tryan and Will Woodfin finished third with a 17.3-second aggregate.
Saddle bronc riding saw a three-way tie for the top spot between Brody Cress, Waitley Sharon, and Dan McPhail, who each recorded a two-head average of 172.5 points. Tom Webster and Mitchell Story tied for fourth with a 170-point aggregate.
Joel Harris secured the top spot in tie-down roping with 25.9 seconds on three head. He collected over $12,000 throughout the rodeo, officially moving him into the No. 2 spot in the world standings. Riley Webb and Bryce Derrer tied for second with a 27.0 aggregate, while Kincade Henry rounded out the top four in 27.7 seconds.
Makenzie Mayes took home the top honors in barrel racing with a 51.42-second aggregate. Emma Kate Parr finished second with a 51.82, and Piper Cordes finished third with a 51.83. In breakaway roping, Madison Outhier secured the average win with 8.6 seconds on three head as she looks to qualify for her first NFBR. She is followed by fellow Top 15 cowgirls Rylee George and Josie Conner, who finished second and third, respectively.
Coleman Proctor secured the win in steer roping by nearly two seconds, recording a three-head average of 33.8 seconds. Tanner Stec finished second with a 35.7, followed by Cole Patterson’s 36.5.
Luke Mackey’s win in bull riding rounded out the weekend. His 171-point aggregate earned him $10,568 for the weekend. Resistol Rookie bull rider Braxton Whitesell finished second with 169.5 points, rounding out the only two cowboys to cover both bulls.
