Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy: Mixed Reports Surround Fenerbahçe's Interest In The Striker As Juventus Make Enquiry

The future of Serhou Guirassy has been up in the air for some time now, with reports being varied in terms of where the striker will end up come the close of this summer's transfer window.

For weeks, it has seemed that Turkish club Fenerbahçe were the front runners for Serhou Guirassy’s signature should he decide to leave Borussia Dortmund, with a Turkish journalist, Yagiz Sabuncuoglu (@yagosabuncuoglu) via @bvbnewsblog, claiming at one point that a verbal agreement had been reached between Fenerbahçe and Borussia Dortmund for Guirassy. 

However, this does not seem to be the case as the same journalist claims that Fenerbahçe have submitted a new offer for Serhou Guirassy, and should Borussia Dortmund turn down their latest offer, then they may move on to other targets like Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. 

But in complete contrast to these reports, Sky Sports Germany reporter Patrick Berger, via @AroooBVB, has stated that Fenerbahçe’s interest in Serhou Guirassy is not as strong as has been reported. Additionally, he suggests that Borussia Dortmund have not received an offer for their star striker and the Turkish top division (Super Lig) is not Guirassy’s preferred destination.   

Fenerbahce are not the only club that have registered their interest in Borussia Dortmund's prolific striker, with Serie A side Juventus also looking at a deal. According to Mirko Di Natale, an Italian journalist, Juventus have inquired about Serhou Guirassy, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly placing a £40 million valuation on him.

It would appear, however, that any further additions to the Borussia Dortmund squad may depend on a major outgoing, with the two names linked with departure being the previously mentioned Serhou Guirassy or German international Karim Adeyemi, who is currently at the centre of a contract stalemate with Borussia Dortmund. The club are not keen on letting the dynamic attacker walk away on a free transfer; therefore, should Dortmund be unable to reach an agreement on fresh terms, the club will look to sell Karim Adeyemi this summer, with several clubs reportedly interested. 

If Karim Adeyemi were to depart the Signal Iduna Park this summer, it would then make the departure of Serhou Guirassy even more unlikely, given the club's desire to keep both in an ideal scenario; losing both doesn’t seem to be something that Dortmund will be willing to entertain.

In summary, it would appear that no one is able to say with complete conviction what is actually going on with Serhou Guirassy and where his future may lie, meaning knowing how it ends is fully guesswork at the moment. However, the idea that Borussia Dortmund need to sell to buy this summer will be baffling to some, but may answer the question of why Dortmund have done very little transfer business, in terms of incomings, so far this summer. 

But if that is the case and the club do need to sell a player of high transfer value to fund any incomings, they need to try and do that fast as time is ticking and the new season is getting ever closer and Niko Kovac will want as much time with any new players as possible in pre season to get them up to speed on how he wants them to play in his Borussia Dortmund side.
