The Barcelona Trio Linked to Dortmund in Karim Adeyemi Swap Deal

The most high-profile of the three players is undoubtedly Roony Bardghji. The Swedish international has long been one of the most highly thought of young, up-and-coming stars in world football, and Barcelona were the club that managed to secure his signature from Copenhagen in July 2025. The Catalan club paid around €2 million plus several performance-related add-ons for the talented attacker and was seen as a player that the club could develop into their next superstar.

However, it has been quite a slow first year for Roony Bardghji at the La Liga club, due to the level of competition that is in front of the 20-year-old, with the likes of Raphinha, Ferran Torres and the incredibly talented Lamine Yamal. However, even in the 21 league matches that he has played, he hasn’t set the world alight, scoring one goal and one assist across those games.

But perhaps a move to Borussia Dortmund could suit all parties. It would provide Dortmund with a player who could come straight in and fill the void left by Karim Adeyemi, and being just 20 years old, he has an incredibly high ceiling that could allow Dortmund to sell the Swedish international in a few years, should he excel in Germany for Dortmund. However, Barcelona may be unwilling to give up on a player like Roony Bardghji just a year after he arrived at the club, with it being more likely that Barcelona would be looking to loan out Bardghji this summer, rather than sell him.

The Spanish midfielder was a semi-regular starter for Barcelona in the 2024/25 season due to some injuries in the centre of the pitch for Barcelona. However, this season his minutes have almost halved as he has gone on to start just 10 games for Barcelona in La Liga this season as he is below the likes of Pedri, Gavi, De Jong and even fellow academy graduate Marc Bernal. 

So with game time seemingly limited, will Marc Casado see his future elsewhere, and could Borussia Dortmund be that new home for him? The deep-lying midfield position is a position that has been well documented as an area in which Dortmund are looking to improve and develop this summer, with the club seemingly targeting a younger profile of players to come in and develop alongside established players like Jobe Bellingham, Marcel Sabitzer and highly sought-after midfielder Felix Nmecha and with Marc Casado being aged 22, he would fit the profile that Dortmund would be looking at.

The final and perhaps most unknown player out of the reported three is Hector Fort. The Spanish national and Barcelona academy graduate spent last season out on loan at fellow La Liga side Elche, where he only played 17 games, starting just five due to a shoulder injury that kept him out for 114 days and caused him to miss 15 matches for Elche. Coming back to his parent club, Barcelona, it would seem likely that the Spanish giants will be looking to either send Hector Fort back out on loan or sell him permanently this summer. 

This could be a potential move for Dortmund as they look set to lose current backup right back Yan Couto on loan with an option to buy Serie A side Como. Furthermore, there are several clubs, including Manchester United, interested in first-choice right back Julian Ryerson, who is currently starring for Norway in the World Cup. So, with potential movement in the right back position, would a swap deal involving Hector Fort solve one headache that Dortmund may encounter this summer?

In summary, the best swap deal out of the three players named, in my opinion, is Roony Bardghji. The Swedish winger is not only a like-for-like replacement for Karim Adeyemi but also could have the highest ceiling out of all three players, aged 20, with clear room to grow and highly thought of around Europe. But would Barcelona be willing to sacrifice the future in Roony Bardghji for the present in Karim Adeyemi?
