Conflicting reports ignite speculation of a sensational reunion as influential club figures bridge the gap between internal unrest and the former coach’s potential return to the Bundesliga.

Just one day after reports appeared to rule out Julian Nagelsmann's return to RB Leipzig, new information from Sky Sport Germany suggests the former coach remains an option in the minds of influential figures at the club.

According to the broadcaster, Nagelsmann is on the radar of certain members of Leipzig's leadership, with supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff remaining a particularly strong supporter of the 39-year-old.

However, there have been no talks between the two parties, and Demichelis continues to enjoy the trust of the club's decision-makers.

What Has Changed Since Yesterday?

Wednesday's report suggested that Leipzig were not considering Nagelsmann or Dino Toppmöller as potential successors to Demichelis.

Sport Bild acknowledged internal unrest following Leipzig's inconsistent start but maintained that a coaching change was not yet being seriously discussed.

Sky's latest information adds an important qualification.

Nagelsmann is reportedly aware of the speculation surrounding his former club and has not ruled out a possible return.

Mintzlaff, meanwhile, continues to hold the former Germany coach in high regard.

That does not establish an active attempt to bring him back, but it suggests the possibility is not as completely dismissed within Leipzig's hierarchy as Wednesday's report indicated.

The distinction between the two reports is therefore significant.

Sport Bild described a Nagelsmann comeback as unfounded. Sky now suggests that some influential figures at Red Bull remain interested, even without any concrete negotiations.

Nagelsmann Still Has Strong Connections

Nagelsmann spent two seasons in charge of Leipzig between 2019 and 2021, leading the club to a Champions League semi-final and a second-place Bundesliga finish.

His success eventually earned him a move to Bayern Munich, who paid a reported €25 million compensation fee to secure his services.

Those achievements have ensured that Nagelsmann remains highly regarded within the Red Bull organisation.

According to the report, Mintzlaff is among his strongest supporters, although the former German coach is also attracting interest from the Premier League.

For now, his name remains part of the discussion rather than an indication that the Bundesliga side is preparing an appointment.

Demichelis Still Has The Backing Of His Bosses

Despite the latest speculation, Demichelis has not lost the confidence of Leipzig's leadership.

The Argentine has overseen three wins and three defeats in his first six competitive matches, a record that has raised concerns about the team's development following Ole Werner's dismissal during the summer.

But Sky reports that the club's decision-makers are not currently planning to remove him.

Roger Schmidt, who succeeded Jürgen Klopp as Red Bull's Global Sports Director, is particularly keen to maintain stability.

Schmidt reportedly wants to understand Demichelis' methods and ideas more thoroughly before making a definitive assessment of his work.

That approach offers the coach some protection, even as questions about his future continue to grow.

October Will Put Everything To The Test

Demichelis now faces a demanding sequence of fixtures that could have a considerable influence on how Leipzig assesses his progress.

Eintracht Frankfurt visit on Saturday, followed by PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

RBL then travel to Bayern Munich before facing Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.

The schedule is especially difficult given that Demichelis has had limited time to work with his full squad during the international break.

For the moment, the club's official direction remains unchanged.

Demichelis is trusted to continue, and no negotiations with Nagelsmann have begun.

But Sky's new information makes Wednesday's apparent dismissal of a reunion considerably less definitive.

Nagelsmann may not be Die Roten Bullen's next coach, and there is no evidence that an appointment is imminent.

What has changed is that his return can no longer be described as a possibility dismissed by everyone in the club's leadership.

For Demichelis, the immediate task remains the same: produce results convincing enough to ensure Leipzig never has to make that decision.

From here the stage only gets bigger.
