Celtic and Rangers both find themselves in the title race with eight games left to be played in the Scottish Premiership. The Hoops trail league leaders Hearts by two points and the Ibrox club are a further point behind. But it is far too tight to determine any outright favourite. Also, with all three sides set to face off against each other in the remainder of the campaign, there is still time for a number of twists and turns before everything is said and done.
Anyways, no matter how this title race ends, Celtic clearly need to strengthen their squad further in the summer transfer window.
Another team that has done phenomenally well this season are Motherwell. And it looks like Scottish rivals could come calling for the services of their best players when the summer transfer window opens.
In the winter transfer window, Celtic were heavily linked with a move for Tawanda Maswanhise, but it did not materialise. Since then, most of the talk has been about a potential move for Elijah Just though.
Just justified the hype surrounding him by scoring Motherwell's opening goal at Celtic Park at the weekend. Ultimately, they could not win. But the winger boosted his reputation with his display against the defending champions in their own backyard.
Celtic are not the only club interested in signing him though. According to the Daily Record, Rangers are keeping tabs on Just as they weigh up a potential summer swoop. Ibrox bosses are said to view the New Zealand international as the brightest gem in Jens Berthel Askou's impressive squad.
Just's goal against Celtic was his seventh in the Premiership this season. He also has six assists to his name to go with it. That is impressive output for a winger, who is also hoping to be part of New Zealand's World Cup squad in the summer.
It is worth mentioning though that in the recent past, Celtic have been linked with quite a few players from rival teams. But ultimately, they have not been able to sign them, with clubs from other leagues often winning the race for their signatures.
Kieron Bowie ended up joining Italian side Hellas Verona from Hibernian in the winter. Before that, in the summer, Lennon Miller had left Motherwell for Udinese. So, just because Just is being linked with both Celtic and Rangers does not mean that he is certain to remain in Scotland beyond this season.
