The former Celtic player has been announced as the new manager of an English club, just weeks after being sacked by his previous team.

Celtic FC Roundtable Round-up: Martinez or Askou? Injury doubts vs Rangers.

Celtic will be looking to bring in a new manager in the summer, when Martin O'Neill's interim run comes to an end. To be fair, the Northern Irishman has not completely closed the door on continuing in the role beyond this season. But he is 74 years old right now, and would not be a long-term solution.

Celtic already tried to find one earlier in the season, bringing in Wilfried Nancy from Columbus Crew. Even though the Frenchman had been a success in the MLS, he had zero experience of managing in Europe.

Then there is the added pressure that comes with being the Celtic manager. The expectation is to win pretty much every game. Not everybody can deal with that level of scrutiny. Neither could Nancy.

Perhaps it would have worked out if the incoming manager had had a better understanding of the job at hand. After every defeat, he continued to talk about the performances and the need for time, not realising that the latter is never available to a Celtic head coach if the results are not there. He was sacked after just eight games and 33 days, and even then, he might have overstayed his welcome.

That is why a previous connection with Celtic, whether as a player or as a fan, helps. Many will be hoping that Scott Brown can develop into that level of a manager one day. Currently, he is doing a decent job at Ayr United in the Championship.

At the same time, another former Celtic player is trying to carve out his own path in management, albeit at a much lower level.

According to BBC, English non-league football club King's Lynn Town have appointed Paul Caddis as their new head coach.

Interestingly, Caddis' appointment comes merely weeks after he was sacked by Hereford FC, part of the same league and currently four positions below King's Lynn Town.

Caddis came through the youth ranks at Celtic. Before that, he was part of the Rangers' system for a couple of years. He went on to make 24 senior appearances for the Hoops before leaving. He would spend the rest of his playing career down in England, most notably turning out for Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers.

We would like to wish the best of luck in his new role as the head coach of King's Lynn Town. Hopefully, he has a successful stint there and continues to move up the ladder in football management.
