ESPN Analyst Delivers Harsh Verdict on PSV Despite 2-0 Heerenveen Win

PSV may have secured a 2-0 victory over SC Heerenveen on Friday, but the performance left ESPN analyst Marciano Vink far from impressed ahead of their Champions League clash with RB Leipzig.

Peter Bosz’s side enjoyed a winning dress rehearsal before travelling to Germany, yet Vink believes PSV should have done considerably more against their Eredivisie opponents. The former PSV player, who is widely regarded as an enthusiast of the club, rarely delivers such pointed criticism.

“I feel that if you can field this calibre of players against Heerenveen, you really ought to make life much more difficult for them,” Vink said on ESPN’s Dit was het Weekend.

“In the third minute, there was a beautiful attacking move involving the likes of Sano and Van Bommel, but that was the only real highlight I saw from PSV. I find that insufficient against a mid-table Dutch side.”

Vink added that the quality within Bosz’s squad should translate into more convincing performances, rather than simply securing results.

“As PSV, with this squad, you need to offer much more. Right now, it’s just a case of Til being in the right spot and Klaverboer getting a touch on the ball. Then, afterwards, you say: ‘We won.’ Sure, but you’re entitled to expect more,” he said.

Fellow analyst Kenneth Perez acknowledged PSV could have performed better but pointed to the international break, with players returning from long journeys and dealing with jet lag.

Perez also warned that PSV must improve before facing Leipzig, highlighting concerns over their central defensive pairing and the lack of a recognised striker.
