The former PSV forward says Bosz’s reaction to the club’s disappointing opening-day draw with Fortuna Sittard reflects his demanding personality.
PSV Eindhoven’s difficult start to the Eredivisie season has prompted criticism from former player and analyst Wim Kieft, who believes Peter Bosz has so far been unable to hide his dissatisfaction.
The Dutch champions opened their title defence with a 2-2 draw against Fortuna Sittard at the Philips Stadion on Saturday, having initially recovered from a 1-0 deficit before conceding a late equaliser.
For Kieft, Bosz’s demeanour has been noticeable since the start of the campaign.
“I try to look at the top clubs. I always find it so funny that everyone starts a season with such great hope, and that shows too, except for Peter Bosz,” Kieft said on the KieftJansenEgmondGijp podcast, as relayed by PSV Inside.
Bosz Cannot Hide His Dissatisfaction
The former PSV player believes Bosz’s demanding nature is evident in his public reactions.
“So far, he has only been radiating dissatisfaction,” Kieft said. “I understand that as well. He isn't easily pleased and isn't easily satisfied, and he can't hide it well. So that was kind of fun.”
Bosz was visibly frustrated after PSV dropped points against Fortuna, particularly after his side conceded Édouard Michut’s 92nd-minute equaliser.
Kieft also compared Bosz’s demeanour with that of Fortuna head coach Danny Buijs, who approached the PSV manager after the final whistle.
“If I then see Danny Buijs after the match running towards him to thank him, it is just as if Bosz has had a bereavement within his family,” Kieft said.
The former Netherlands international was nevertheless complimentary of Buijs and his straightforward approach.
“I do like Buijs. He is really straightforward and he’s not one for making nice-weather talk. If it’s bad, it’s bad,” Kieft added.

Despite the disappointing result, Kieft does not believe PSV’s title prospects should be judged on one match.
“The first match of the season is the toughest match,” he explained. “There’s pressure and you want to start well. Everyone is still fighting for a starting spot and the striker wants to score quickly so it doesn’t become an obsession that they haven’t scored a goal.”
Kieft also pointed to the uncertainty created by the transfer window, with PSV’s squad potentially still subject to further adjustments.
“It’s strange with that transfer window that there could still be three departures,” he concluded.
New signings Filip Kostić and Kodai Sano have not yet made their PSV debuts.
PSV will now look to respond in their next league fixture as Bosz attempts to turn a frustrating opening result into the start of a more consistent title defence.
