Dutch champions set for major transfer boost as NEC star edges a record move and experienced Serbia international nears Eindhoven switch.

PSV Eindhoven are on the verge of completing two significant signings, with Kodai Sano and Filip Kostić both spotted in Eindhoven ahead of their medicals.

As relayed by Goal, transfer journalist Mounir Boualin on Wednesday, August 5, captured footage of the pair arriving at Anna TopSupport, the medical facility where PSV's incoming players routinely undergo examinations before finalising their transfers.

Filip Kostić's signing has been confirmed today with the versatile left-sided player signing a two-year contract that will keep him at the Philips Stadion until the summer of 2028.

If both deals are completed, it will mark one of PSV's busiest and most important days of the summer transfer window.

Kodai Sano Closing in on Record Move

PSV are racing to complete the signing of NEC Nijmegen midfielder Kodai Sano before the opening weekend of the Eredivisie season, having agreed a €14.5 million deal with NEC.

The transfer represents the biggest sale in the Nijmegen club's history and follows a dramatic end to Sano's time at NEC.

The 22-year-old, who played a pivotal role in helping NEC secure a third-place finish last season, travelled with the squad to Greece for their UEFA Champions League qualifier against Olympiakos but was ultimately sent home before kick-off.

NEC's Director of Football Carlos Aalbers confirmed the midfielder was removed from the squad after refusing to play.

"Sano didn't want to play and we didn't want a player in the team who didn't want to play," Aalbers explained as relayed by Dutch News, adding that "agreements were breached."

Despite the controversy surrounding his departure, PSV have continued pushing to finalise the transfer before their league opener.

Kostić Brings Experience to Eindhoven

Experienced Serbia international Filip Kostić has been confirmed as a PSV player.

The 33-year-old arrives with extensive experience after spells at FC Groningen, VfB Stuttgart, Hamburger SV, Eintracht Frankfurt, Juventus and Fenerbahçe.

His return to Dutch football is expected to add leadership, versatility and Champions League pedigree to Peter Bosz's squad ahead of another demanding campaign.

Kostić revealed that fellow PSV player Ivan Perišić played a significant role in convincing him to make the move to Eindhoven.

The two experienced internationals remained in regular contact throughout the transfer process, with Perišić painting an enticing picture of life at the Dutch champions.

"He kept saying: 'Come on over here-you'll love it, and together we're going to make life miserable for all our opponents,'" Kostić said.

"I'm glad we now have that chance together, and I'm extremely eager to achieve a lot of success with this top club. I can't wait to get started and, above all, let my feet do the talking, because that's what I love to do most."

Busy Transfer Window Continues

PSV have shown little intention of slowing down in the market.

Earlier this summer, Director of Football Earnest Stewart strengthened the midfield by signing Sven Mijnans from AZ for €13 million, while further movement is expected before the transfer window closes.

Morocco international Couhaib Driouech continues to attract interest from Rangers, with Dutch reports indicating the Scottish club are prepared to pay around €8 million, although negotiations remain ongoing.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Joël Drommel has already completed his return to FC Twente after five years at PSV.

Speaking after sealing the move back to Enschede, Drommel described the transfer as a special moment.

"It feels like coming home."

With Sano's energy in midfield and Kostić's proven quality on the left flank, PSV look determined to strengthen a squad already expected to challenge for both the Eredivisie title and another deep run in Europe.
