Rangers have identified PSV Eindhoven defender Adamo Nagalo as a potential target as Derek McInnes looks to strengthen his squad, with the Scottish club showing renewed interest in the Dutch champions following the collapse of the Couhaib Driouech deal.

Rangers have returned to PSV in their search for defensive reinforcements, this time with 23-year-old centre-back Adamo Nagalo on their radar.

According to a report by Africa Foot, as relayed by Sportwitness, Rangers' interest in the Burkina Faso international is genuine and could soon develop into a formal approach to PSV. The report states that the Ibrox club have added Nagalo to their target list, although it remains unclear whether they would prefer a permanent transfer or a loan deal.

Rangers came close to signing Nagalo's PSV teammate Driouech earlier this month. An agreement had been reached, and the winger travelled to Scotland to complete his move, only for the transfer to collapse following his medical examination.

PSV director Earnest Stewart subsequently explained at length why the deal failed to go through.

Rangers have now turned their attention back to Eindhoven, with Nagalo emerging as a possible alternative target for McInnes.

Nagalo joined PSV in 2024 from Danish club FC Nordsjælland but has struggled to establish himself under Peter Bosz. He has made only 12 official appearances for the Eindhoven side, primarily operating in his preferred centre-back position.

The defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Konyaspor, where he made 13 appearances. The Turkish club remain interested in retaining him, while fellow Turkish side Çorum FK are also reportedly monitoring his situation.

That means Rangers could face competition should they decide to make a formal move.

Nagalo has not featured in PSV's opening two matches of the current season and remains under contract with the Dutch champions until 2029. Transfermarkt currently values the defender at approximately €2.8 million.

Despite his long-term contract, PSV are reportedly “currently working on a solution” for Nagalo's future, suggesting the club could be prepared to sanction his departure this summer.

Nagalo's limited playing time at PSV and the club's willingness to explore a solution could give Rangers an opportunity to open negotiations.

Africa Foot concluded its report by stating, "This situation will continue to develop in the coming days. A potential offer from Rangers to PSV Eindhoven could now move the discussions forward.”

For Nagalo, a move to Ibrox would offer the opportunity to revive his career after failing to secure a regular role in Bosz's PSV side. Rangers, meanwhile, are assessing whether the Burkina Faso international can provide the defensive reinforcement McInnes is seeking before the transfer window closes.
