Former Netherlands international Wim Kieft praises the midfielder’s relentless scoring form for Peter Bosz’s side while weighing in on his polarizing potential for a national team recall.

Wim Kieft believes Guus Til deserves greater recognition for his growing influence at PSV, praising the midfielder’s goalscoring consistency after another important contribution to Peter Bosz’s side.

Til was on target in PSV’s 1-1 draw against Feyenoord last Sunday, adding to his recent impressive performances. Just days earlier, the 28-year-old had scored the decisive goal in PSV’s 1-0 victory over FC Porto, underlining his importance to the Eindhoven club.

His influence has continued to grow since last season, when Bosz increasingly deployed him as an emergency striker. Til formed an effective partnership with Ismael Saibari, who has since left PSV, and has maintained his reputation as a reliable source of goals.

Speaking on the latest episode of the KieftJansenEgmondGijp podcast, former PSV striker Kieft reflected on the performance against Feyenoord before highlighting Til’s contribution.

“I found PSV very good in the first half,” Kieft said.

He then turned his attention to Til, suggesting that the midfielder's attacking output is sometimes overlooked despite his consistent ability to find the net.

“That Til, we maybe underestimate him a bit. That guy really scores it expertly from there, the ball he gets. He scores goals everywhere,” Kieft remarked.

Kieft Questions Whether Til Is Suited To Oranje

Despite his admiration for Til's goalscoring record, Kieft believes the PSV midfielder may not quite possess the qualities required to become a regular member of the Netherlands national team.

The former international striker made a distinction between Til's effectiveness at club level and the higher standard of competition for places in Ronald Koeman's squad.

“Okay, maybe he isn’t good enough for the Netherlands national team, but he does have a very high return on investment,” Kieft added, as quoted by PSV Inside.

Kieft also made it clear that he was not advocating a starting position for Til with Oranje, acknowledging the quality of the alternatives available to the national team coach.

“I think he might just fall short of that level of the Netherlands national team. You simply have better players there. He's very useful,” he concluded.

For PSV, however, Til's value is increasingly difficult to overlook. Whether operating in midfield or leading the attack when required, his goalscoring contribution has made him an important part of Bosz's plans.
