It has been an open secret for a while that Jose Mourinho was going to become the manager of Real Madrid this summer. But it was only made official a couple of days back by Benfica.

Florentino Perez has gone for the tried-and-tested once again. Many might wonder whether Mourinho is still a top-level manager. His last three spells came at AS Roma, Fenerbahce and Benfica.

His Benfica team might have finished third, but they went the entire league season unbeaten. That is quite the feat for a side whose previous manager, Bruno Lage, was sacked in September itself.

Their season could have so easily crumbled. Instead, Mourinho built a team that rarely lost.

It is that kind of mentality that Real Madrid fans will be hoping he instils into this side as well. And it looks like Mourinho is close to signing his first 'mentality monster'.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bernardo Silva to Real Madrid deal is set to be sealed. It will be 'HERE WE GO', soon.

The agreement is at the final stages after the official proposal, valid until June 2028, plus a potential option. Silva is ready to join Real Madrid.

So, Real Madrid look set to complete another elite free agent signing. Silva was still a regular starter for Manchester City, before leaving at the end of the campaign as his contract expired.

Still just 31 years of age, Silva should have plenty of football left in the tank and do not be surprised if he proves to be a long-term signing, even if most do not expect it to be the case. He is one of those midfielders who has the quality and intelligence to have an extended career at the top level.

Silva's experience will certainly do a world of good for Real Madrid. It is something that seems to have been missing from this team a bit, since the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric moved on.

This move is also set to come as a blow for FC Barcelona. They have been linked with a move for Silva for years now.

And finally, with his Manchester City contract coming to an end, it had looked like Barcelona were set to sign him.

It was not to be though as Real Madrid swooped in and are now on the verge of completing the signing ahead of their El Clasico rivals.
