Jorge Valdano, former soccer player, reveals who is the key piece for Real Madrid that Jose Mourinho should focus his attention on.
Last Saturday, Real Madrid faced Villarreal CF (1-0) in La Liga, and although the team came out victorious, there are still many loose ends that the team must fix.
The match was eventful and a special encounter, as it was the first league match after the international break. However, the victory was tainted by a scandal involving Real Madrid's left winger, Vinicius Jr., after he committed a foul that led to his goal being disallowed and his subsequent expulsion.
This type of behavior and mistakes appear to be increasingly frequent at the white club, which is why people are so tired of the same patterns.
Although the arrival of the new coach, Jose Mourinho, was expected to bring structural improvement, some experts think no change is evident, and something about the Portuguese coach's strategy does not seem to be working.
That is why fans and those close to Real Madrid try to turn the page on the scandals and focus on the club's strengths, among them, without a doubt, the No. 10 forward, Kylian Mbappe.
It is no lie that there are gaps that have not yet been fully addressed under Mourinho's command, and, as former soccer player Jorge Valdano noted, the game needs more fluidity.
In words collected by Defensa Central, Valdano explains the qualities of Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham, key pieces for Mourinho's eleven.
"Arda Guler is essential at Madrid. Either he or Bellingham has to be next to the other pivot who plays to give the game some fluidity," he explained.
The former soccer player admired Bellingham's strength, but for him, the best Real Madrid player is Kylian Mbappe.
"I admire Bellingham, he is very good, but the great Madrid player is Mbappe. He is the goal. It is true that he missed some against Villarreal, but he also has the right not to score a goal some days."
The truth is, the Frenchman is a machine on the field; he always finds a way to create danger for the opposition and rarely fails at it.
This isn't the first time Valdano has backed Mbappe's quality. For the Argentine, the Real Madrid forward is indisputably a top candidate for the Ballon d'Or, despite Real Madrid's trophy drought.
"I am devoted to Mbappe. Kylian seems to me a purebred who is at the best moment of his career, in a moment of absolute fullness in terms of age, confidence, and class," Valdano highlighted.
Clearly, a team cannot be generalized and pigeonholed into a single player, because in reality, they are much more than that, but Kylian Mbappe does demonstrate being one of the most important pieces on Mourinho's board.
