After an excellent month of form with Real Madrid, attacking midfielder Jude Bellingham has been recognised for his efforts by being officially awarded the club's Player of the Month for October.
It was an absolutely brilliant month of October for Real Madrid in all competitions. Five wins from five, three in La Liga and two in the UEFA Champions League, including a win over Barcelona that helped reduce the gap to just three points.
Throughout October, there were a number of players who stepped up to the plate and made sure they could be counted on. We saw Yan Diomande make himself a starter, Arda Guler continue his excellent form, Kylian Mbappe score a brace in El Clasico and so on and so forth.
One other player who played very well last month was Jude Bellingham. The Englishman was very consistent in his performances with and without the ball, and assisted one of Mbappe's goals in the win at home to Sevilla.
The base numbers may not look out of this world, but the performances were very consistent, and the underlying numbers prove Bellingham's worth to the team. For example, he created a big chance against RB Leipzig, won 13/15 ground duels in the hard fought win against Barcelona and played a huge part in the build up to the winning goal, that simply wouldn't happen without him. These are the things that can go unnoticed.
Not by the club, however. Indeed not, as they have recognised the 23-year old's efforts and have as a result rewarded him by giving him Real Madrid's official Player of the Month award for October.
He beats fellow nominees Thibaut Courtois, Dean Huijsen, Federico Valverde and Yan Diomande to the award. All five players had very good months in their own right, and perhaps another player would have merited winning just as much if not a little bit more, but in truth - it feels great that someone who does so much grafting and hard work that usually does not get spotted - has won the award. It is great to see that work recognised.
Ironically enough, Mbappe - who was not nominated for Real Madrid Player of the Month - was confirmed as the La Liga Player of the Month earlier on today (Friday, the 6th of November). An award that is also certainly merited after that iconic brace in El Clasico.
Well, what a day Bellingham is having. Not just this, but even more potently, his younger brother Jobe, of Borussia Dortmund, was called up to the England senior team earlier on today, meaning they will be the first pair of brothers to play for England together since Phil and Gary Neville in 2007, should they both make the pitch.
