According to several different high level reports, a Real Madrid first team player is about to leave the club after a number of years in the Spanish capital
The attention of Real Madrid fans is firmly on this summer's FIFA World Cup in North America, especially when Kylian Mbappe is out there breaking long standing records at will.
However, there is plenty of hard work going on behind the scenes to make sure that Real Madrid do not have another season like last campaign, or either of the last two in truth.
In recent days, the signings of Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella from Liverpool (free agent), Manchester City (free agent), Inter Milan and Chelsea respectively. With there being three defenders in there, it is clear what Jose Mourinho is prioritising this summer.
With there still expected to be more incomings, it is only natural that some players leave in order to make room and help complete the rebuild. There have been links away for a few players, including Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.
Well, one other player whose name has been mentioned regarding a departure is Dani Ceballos. A couple of weeks ago, it was reported if the club had agreed a 5 million Euros deal with Ajax for the midfielder, but it seemed like the player himself turned down a move to Amsterdam.
Nevertheless, Spanish media outlet Diario AS are reporting that Ceballos will terminate his contract with the club after finding an agreement. They also say he is "one step away" from re-joining Real Betis, whom he left for Los Blancos back in the summer of 2017.
It would make a lot of sense for him. The Seville side have managed to revive a number of careers in recent years. A good example of this is Antony, who was on the floor when they signed him from Manchester United.
A more topical example would be Ceballos' former Real Madrid team mate Isco, who has been sublime for them when he has managed to stay fit, which unfortunately has not been as often as you would like.
That said, it must be a bit frustrating that the club could have got five million Euros from Ajax, and he will now leave for free. Even if a small amount of money, it's the principle. That said, the report does say that the player found an agreement with the club, so they are consciously doing it after all. Listen, fair play.
It will certainly be interesting, and pretty cool, to see a Betis midfield with Ceballos and Isco in it.
