Jose Mourinho provided a positive update on the situation regarding two Real Madrid midfielder's, Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Real Madrid edged past Inter Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu to open their Champions League campaign with a win.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for the Whites in the 14th minute of the game as Fede Valverde doubled their lead within 10 minutes of the opener.
However, Los Blancos' nervy defending provided an opening for the visitors to pull one back on the night, which gave them momentum to push hard for an equalizer.
Jose Mourinho, understanding the situation, brought in Aurelien Tchouameni in order to provide more stability to the Whites' midfield alongside Valverde.
It was the first time since last season's dressing room mishap that both Valverde and Tchouameni were on the same pitch playing for the Merengues.
Both the midfielders had already issued an apology following that unfortunate incident during Alvaro Arbeloa's tenure as Real Madrid's manager.
But as already mentioned, they were yet to play together in a competitive game for the Whites, and Mourinho has seemingly handled that issue brilliantly.
But the Portuguese manager didn't want to claim credit for the recent development as he praised the midfield duo during a pre-match conference, saying (h/t Madrid Zone), "Valverde & Tchouameni? I didn't do ANYTHING. They resolved everything themselves. They look like great friends to me."
Although it was never said out in the open, Mourinho's appointment as the new manager of the Whites seemingly had a lot to do with his abilities to bring discipline and values into the dressing room, which visibly missing during the previous campaign under both Xabi Alonso and Arbeloa.
Mourinho's Los Blancos are certainly far from the finished product, but the players' positive attitude during difficult situations like Tuesday's match against the Nerazzurri was clearly visible to everyone around the club.
Now with Tchouameni returning from his injury, Mourinho will have a plethora of options for his midfield plans, alongside Arda Guler, Eduardo Camavinga and Bernardo Silva, who missed the Whites' opening UCL game at the Bernabeu due to suspension.
The real question that now remains is whether Valverde and Tchouameni will play together regularly for the Merengues, or if the Portuguese manager will manage the midfield duo's minutes during the Whites' upcoming fixtures.
Either way, it is certainly a positive update on the squad's cohesiveness, as both Valverde and Tchouameni have seemingly decided to leave their differences behind and help their side get back to winning ways under the new manager this season.
