According to reports on Wednesday afternoon, two Real Madrid players thought each other in training, as things continue to go pear shaped for the club

It is an absolutely rotten time to be a fan of Real Madrid at the moment.

The team were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League at the quarter final stage for a second successive season, and are on the brink of failing to win La Liga for a second consecutive year, and for a third time in four seasons. In fact, they could see arch rivals Barcelona win the league against them on Sunday evening.

However, it is not just on pitch matters that are in a sorry state at the moment. Indeed not, as everywhere you look, there are reports that tensions are flaring, from players to manager.

For example, it was reported earlier this week that the Real Madrid dressing room are unhappy with Kylian Mbappe, and his conduct, or lack there of. Meanwhile, Alvaro Carreras all but confirmed that he and Antonio Rudiger had a training ground altercation in an Instagram statement released on Tuesday evening.

Well, it appears that is not the only training ground incident of late. Indeed not, as it is being reported by Marca that midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde had a fight in training today. They state that they almost physically fought, and it got more intense in the dressing room (after the session).

Meanwhile, they also report that the club are in a "state of tension", that the emotional strain is very big, and that some players do not even speak with each other. Finally, they also mention that six players refuse to speak to head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, with there being "no contact at all."

What an absolute circus. The whole place is on fire. A complete and utter mess from top to bottom. What is worse is that there is, as touched on earlier, a Clasico in just four days. It's looking very possible that Barcelona win the league against Los Blancos.

You have to say, that would be a humiliation completely fitting for a season full of humiliations. It's a full circle moment, in a way. During the reverse fixture, back at the end of October, when Real Madrid beat Hansi Flick's side 2-1, the vibes were very good, and the team were five points clear.

Since then, Barcelona have won 22 out of 24 points in La Liga, seeing the gap go from a five point deficit to an eleven point lead. That's what happens when you have a cohesive squad, a cohesive team. A cohesive club. Everything that Real Madrid are not.
