There has been a lot of claims and promises being made before the presidential election and it might have adverse effects on the current players.
Real Madrid is gearing up for the upcoming presidential election after a two-decade hiatus, as incumbent president Florentino Perez called for it during a bizarre press conference last month.
Looking at the opportunity, billionaire businessman Enrique Riquelme decided to run for the position and officially submitted his candidacy to the Los Blancos board.
Since then, many claims have been made by both Perez and Riquelme as part of their campaigns. Florentino has obviously earned a lot of credibility as the President of the legendary club, but Los Blancos' failures over the past two seasons have drawn a lot of the expected criticism from fans and members.
That's where someone like Riquelme comes in, a 37-year-old businessman who claims to be a lifelong Madrid fan and now plans to steer the Merengues back to their lost glory over the next few years.
In the past few days, the claims coming in from both candidates seem a bit more extravagant, with Perez and Riquelme now naming their summer transfer targets as part of their campaigning process.
Recently, Riquelme claimed he would bring in Erling Haaland and Rodri from Manchester City once he is elected as the new president of Los Blancos, which has drawn some unwanted controversy over the past couple of days.
The long-time president of the Whites isn't really far off from his competitor, as Perez has already confirmed the signing of Jose Mourinho, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries for the new season, and now claims to put in a record bid of €150 million next week, following the culmination of the election.
Could all these claims and promises be playing a negative role in the minds of the current Los Blancos stars? as no matter how far fetched they are, it certainly can dampen the morale of someone like Rodrygo who will now miss the World Cup due to an ACL and amidst all this, seeing Olise being named as a probable summer signing might force him into look at options going into the new season.
The same goes for the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, as PSG's Vitinha and Joao Neves have emerged as probable targets for Real Madrid and Perez this summer.
As a result, Perez and Riquelme might be unknowingly affecting the morale of the Los Blancos squad for their recent election gains, as both the fans and the players alike are now waiting to get over with the process as fast as possible, and then hopefully everyone will have a far more transparent view of the upcoming summer transfer window and the new season ahead.
