According to reports from the English media, Liverpool have made a proposal in an attempt to try and sign a PSG first team player in the summer transfer window
Although PSG won their second consecutive UEFA Champions League title on Saturday evening in Budapest, and have won seven of the last eight trophies available to them, there is expected to be a number of departures in the summer transfer window.
For example, it is already being reported that forwards Goncalo Ramos and Kang-in Lee want to leave to get more game time elsewhere, and there is similar talk regarding Bradley Barcola, albeit to a lesser extent. Meanwhile, on Monday, it was reported that club legend Marquinhos will be allowed to depart this summer.
Well, one other player who could also leave the French capital this summer is another central defender, in Ilya Zabarnyi. Although he only joined last summer from Premier League side AFC Bournemouth, he has also found regular game time hard to come by this season.
The Ukrainian international was a regular in Ligue 1, playing 28 games and starting 26 of those, but many of those games were dead rubbers, with PSG prioritizing the Champions League, a competition in which he started just two games and played just 24 minutes since the 10th of December. Getting sent off in the first half of one of his only two starts, against Bayer Leverkusen, did not help his case.
So, he could well look to leave. And according to English journalist, DaveOCKOP, English giants Liverpool have "made a proposal" for the 23-year-old. He states that talks are at an exploratory stage right now, and that initial dialogue has taken place.
He also mentions that the player is less than fully satisfied with his situation at PSG and that the club would be open to selling him if its terms are met. He states that Luis Enrique's side would be "at least" expecting to recoup the £54.3 million they paid Bournemouth last summer.
Certainly interesting. You get the idea that he could be promoted to first choice - alongside Willian Pacho - if Marquinhos does depart, and then the club brings in a cover for him, in a similar role to the one he joined last summer. However, if Liverpool is, in theory, willing to give PSG the money they paid for the player, it may be too tempting an offer for the club to turn down. Let's wait and see.
