According to reports on Saturday (the 1st of August 2026), European Champions PSG are trying to see through the official signing of a World Cup goalkeeper.
With there being less than two weeks before PSG open their season against Aston Villa and former manager Unai Emery in the UEFA Super Cup in Salzburg, the serious business has really began in the summer transfer market.
Earlier on this week, we aggregated reports to a number of players linked to the club, such as Ferran Torres of FC Barcelona, Mika Godts of AFC Ajax and so on and so forth.
Well, here is another player to mention. As according to France based journalist Santi Aouna, PSG are "actively continuing discussions" with Serie A side Parma regarding their goalkeeper Zion Suzuki,
As per his report, exchanges are ongoing between the three parties (including the player), to reach an agreement, with PSG currently holding the advantage over Serie A side Juventus, who are also said to be interested in signing the keeper.
Not the first time that Juventus have been mentioned in discussion with PSG today, with the news circulating earlier that The Old Lady will sign Randal Kolo Muani for an initial fee of 38 million Euros, potentially rising to 50, after the previous news that the deal would be a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
As for Suzuki, now this would be very interesting. He is a very capable goalkeeper, and he showed that at the World Cup with Japan, as they reached the round of 32, only narrowly losing to Brazil, with Suzuki making a couple of fine stops along the way.
And at 23, he is only going to get better. That would be relatively young for an outfield player, never mind a goalkeeper. However, all of that begs the question: Is he coming to the French capital to be first choice?
Having lost his place in the side mid way through last season, and losing his place in France's World Cup squad as a direct consequence, Lucas Chevalier's future has been up in the air, and he was linked with a move away before the World Cup, though that talk has gone quiet of late.
To give him his dues, Matvey Safonov actually filled in pretty well in goal when he came in last season, but he does not feel like a player where you go "He simply has to be first choice next season." That said, he definitely deserves the jersey over Chevalier at the moment. A new signing, and well, that is potentially different. Certainly one to keep an eye on.
